16 People Arrested At AEROSMITH's Mansfield Concert
June 18, 2009Maureen Boyle of The Enterprise reports that 16 people were arrested at the AEROSMITH concert at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 16, most on alcohol-related charges.
"That is not even counting the ones that just go to first aid," Police Chief Arthur O'Neill said.
Now, the chief said, the police department won't agree to any of the charges being dismissed unless those arrested say where they got the booze.
"We will not agree to any disposition short of a guilty if they won't say where they got it," O'Neill said.
The chief said the number of drunken and disruptive concert goers appears to be increasing — and the ages decreasing.
"It is just a continuing trend that we have had for five years now," O'Neill said.
"Particularly with the girls, in the last five years, the girls have just gotten out of control," he added.
Those arrested — some as young as 15 — came from throughout the Massachusetts and some from New Hampshire.
"They all did something to draw attention to themselves," O'Neill said.
He said the number of people arrested represents just a fraction of those intoxicated at the concerts.
"I'm not going to fool myself, this is just the tip of the iceberg," O'Neill said.
